Small Charity Week, beginning on 22 June 2026, celebrates the vital role that small organisations play in strengthening communities across the UK. In Sheffield, youth charity Grow is marking the week by highlighting how nature‑based programmes are transforming the lives of young people.

Research shows that after family, small charities are Britain’s second most trusted source of support. Throughout the week, organisations across Sheffield will be raising awareness of their work, recruiting volunteers, sharing powerful stories, encouraging donations, and championing the impact small charities have despite often limited resources.

Grow uses the power of nature to inspire hope and unlock potential in 16–24 year olds. The charity helps young people break unhealthy digital cycles, develop practical outdoor skills, and build confidence. Being part of Small Charity Week allows Grow to reach new supporters and gain wider recognition for its mission.

Nature is central to Grow’s approach: 85% of adults in England say spending time in nature boosts their happiness, and 40% report feeling less anxious when they are close to it. Grow’s mission is to equip young people with the tools, opportunities, and support they need to navigate challenges and build meaningful futures. The charity also offers a range of volunteer opportunities for those who want to contribute their time to a cause that changes lives.

For anyone wondering how to get involved in Grow, there are many ways to make a difference, from donating to a local cause, to attending fundraising events and volunteering your time.

Grow trainee Marcus says:
“Grow started to give me a routine in life. I know what I’m doing day-to-day instead of just getting up and thinking, ‘What am I doing today? Well, I’m not doing really anything.’ It helps my life be more organized and hence, stress-free.”
