Mission & strategy

Our mission

We use the power of nature to inspire hope and unlock potential in young people.

We engage young people in nature-based activities such as gardening and nature walks to help broaden their skills, confidence and horizons. Nature has a proven positive impact on mental health, combating depression, anxiety, stress and fatigue. It also provides a practical context through which young people can develop new social connections and skills beneficial to their employability, such as teamwork, communication and leadership.

Our programmes capitalise on these benefits, helping young people develop crucial skills and tools that nurture their wellbeing and enable them to secure long term education, employment or training.

Our five year strategy

Our Five-Year Strategic Plan (2026-2031) outlines Grow’s ambitious vision to use the power of nature to inspire hope and unlock the potential of even more young people across Sheffield.

Building on our strong foundation of nature-based training and therapeutic coaching, we have set three core goals:

  • to broaden our reach for young people not in education, employment, or training (NEET)
  • to strengthen our financial resilience through diversified income streams
  • to extend our mission to new audiences, including those in formal education

Over the next five years, we will scale our impact to support 250 trainees annually by 2031, while fostering a sustainable and community-integrated model that ensures every young person has the opportunity to thrive.
