A group of people gardening outdoors on a sunny day_Grow charity Sheffield

Research shows connecting with nature is good for us, which is why Grow Training takes place outdoors and centres on nature‑based and gardening activities.

Over four weeks, young people build their wellbeing, strengthen social connections and develop key employability skills. Using a therapeutic coaching approach, we focus on the essential skills that help people thrive in life and at work, including teamwork, problem solving, communication and resilience. Young people take part in a mix of one‑to‑one, group and practical nature‑based sessions.

After completing the programme, every trainee is offered the chance to interview for our paid work placement, Grow Employment.

Before joining Grow, I spent a lot of time indoors and around people who didn’t have my best interests in mind. Now, working at Grow, I’m surrounded by people who do – everyone is here to work, and being outdoors is really good for me.” – Elliott, Grow trainee
