Volunteer Case Study

Faye joined the Grow team as a volunteer in October 2018.
“I got involved in Grow because I was enthusiastic to contribute towards supporting the work of the charity itself. I was also keen to learn more around the internal work of a not-for-profit organisation, and working for Grow provided me with a good insight of this”.
Whilst volunteering for Grow Faye focussed on researching and writing grant application:
“Writing and researching grant applications is integral to the charity, and I found the experience to be a positive challenge which I was able to learn a lot from. I learnt a lot about the breadth of work that goes into the organisation of the programmes. From this I developed a much deeper understanding around the importance of the work which Grow provides for people. More specifically the work I did for Grow helped me to learn more around the nature of fundraising within a charity. I was encouraged to be creative in developing and discussing new ideas around the work I was doing, and I found the experience to be very positive. I also enjoyed meeting new people both on, and working within the programmes. On a wider level, it was also great to contribute towards supporting the work which the charity provides for people.”

“I would definitely recommend volunteering, it is a great opportunity to get involved within the charity, and the experience is a good way of learning and developing new skills”
